Development of pre-mathematical literacy through fairy-tale worksheets
Šustrová, Marie ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Macháčková, Jana (referee)
Master's thesis Development of pre-mathematical literacy through fairy-tale worksheets focuses on the connection between pre-mathematical and pre-reading literacy through fairy-tale-themed worksheets. The thesis consists of three main parts: 1) the Theoretical part introduces the basis for the practical part, including developmental and cognitive psychology as well as pre-mathematical literacy and reading preliteracy; 2) the methodological part presents the aim, research questions and used methodology for research realisation including conditions for it. 3) Practical part consists of used scenarios, a description of the research process and an analysis of extracted data. The main aim of this thesis was to find out if the worksheets designed with didactical advice and set into a didactical structure, were suitable for children aged 5 to 7. For didactical structures scenarios were created. The author created seven worksheets, which contextually relate to fairytales for kindergarten children: Red Riding Hood, Hansel & Gretel, The Twelve Months, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Wolf and The Seven Little Goats. Activities linked with worksheets mainly prepare children for the solution of word problems in grade 1 of elementary school, with emphasis on graphical record of information and transformation...
Preparing for school mathematics via a serie of activities inspired by creations of artist Zdeněk Sýkora
Tydlitátová, Lucie ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Havlíčková, Radka (referee)
The Bachelor's thesis deals with the connection between pre-math literacy and art education in kindergarten. The paper refers to similar activities suitable for primary school, but the scenarios and their implementation in practice fully respect the specifics of preschool age. Both the methods and the material are adapted to this, as is the language. Activities linking pre-math literacy and visual arts are embedded in a specific didactic structure. The thesis has three main parts. The theoretical part deals with the areas on which the practical part is based: motor and cognitive development of the preschool child, a brief biography of the artist Zdeněk Sýkora, and pre-math literacy. The methodology part defines the aims, tasks and methods of the Bachelor's thesis, and is based on action research with elements of qualitative research. The practical part includes scenarios and description of their implementation, records of the observed phenomena and their analysis based on direct observation, video recording and reflection with post-reflection. Children aged 5 years and 7 months to 6 years and 7 months were observed in a kindergarten setting. On the basis of the partial conclusions, minor modifications in the scenario are proposed, which are complemented by didactic recommendations for the possible...
Labyrinths - in the role of an instrument developping space and plane orientation of pre-school child
Černá, Lenka ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Kvasz, Ladislav (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to determine whether the practice of using a graded series of labyrinths affect their final solution, hence the orientation in the plane, check the level of understanding of labyrinths and determine whether the sex of children affect the resulting solution. Thus, the work environment uses of labyrinths to develop a structured orientation in a limited space for pre-school children aged five to six (seven) years. The theoretical part characterizes preschool child and explains the context pre- mathematical literacy and orientation in space/plane with the delegation on labyrinthsurthermore, the labyrinths of focus in terms of historical, semantic and didactic.Furthermore, the labyrinths of focus in terms of historical, semantic and didactic. The practical part describes research which in obtaining information from the set of samples used structured observations and findings to the final results of the comparative analysis. They are discussed in connection with: the needs of the child and their saturation; orientation in space/plane; problem situation; interactions of teachers and children. KEY WORDS Pre-school children, pre-mathematical literacy, space orientation, plane orientation, labyrinths, applied methods and phormes of solution.
Card-games for the 5-6 years old children in developement of pre-mathematics literacy
Kidery, Barbara ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Jančařík, Antonín (referee)
TITLE: Card-games for the 5-6 years old children in developement of pre-mathematics literacy AUTHOR: Barbara Kidery DEPARTMENT: Mathematics & Mathematical Education Department SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Michaela Kaslová ABSTRACT: Diploma thesis investigates whether are preschoolers able to play selected card games, within which develope and deepen the skills, that are part of pre-mathematics literacy. The theoretical part is focused on the areas of child development that may affect and limit the children playing card games. Further clarifies the status of card games in various game categorization, introduces kinds of cards, card games and how to proceed in games with rules. The practical part presents ten card games played with 5-6 years old children, a detailed analysis of their rules, organization of the various games, analysis of video documentation acquired during games and methodological notes for the practice. KEYWORDS: pre-mathematics literacy, development of preschool child abilities, game with rules, card game
Child accelerated in premathematics literacy
Vancová, Marie ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Vondráková, Eva (referee)
The bachelor thesis discusses accelerated children in the field of premathematics literacy. It concentrates on characteristic signs of accelerated children in preschool age, methods of early identification, forms of education, development of accelerated individuals, and last but not least addresses premathematical education in pre-school. This work is divided into two parts, which coincide with the two main goals. The goal is: map the level of care for accelerated children in a selected pre-school and design work sheets for their development in premathematics literacy, which will support the preparation for school mathematics respecting individual needs of preschool children. This work offers 23 adapted and modified work sheets considering the specifications of the given group. Suitability has been verified on 13 children from 5 to 7, 2 years of age, identified officially as accelerated. The author assumes that this work will help to improve the care for accelerated children.
Correctif processies of structured wholes
Kašová, Štěpánka ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Havlíčková, Radka (referee)
The main objectives of the thesis Correctif processies of structured wholes are to find out whether and under what conditions is the child able to identify an error in a structured whole in the last year of pre-school education and whether her is able to correct the identified errors. To meet the objectives, there was used the qualitative research to select 30 children from two pre-school classes. The research included five activities focused on different types of structured wholes, but also on different correction processes. The observed phenomenas were recorded in tables and graphs that are part of the work or listed in the appendix. From the series of created tasks, observation of children and subsequent data recording and analysis, the child in the last year of pre-school education does not have the experience of identifying and correcting errors and the approaches of childer to solve the tasks are in different ways.
Developement of work on structure in kindergarten
Horáková, Vendula ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Slezáková, Jana (referee)
Abstract The Master thesis "Developement of work on structure in kindergarten" aims to find out which structures are percieved well by the Czech child of the last year of pre-school and in which types of percieved structures there are difficulties and to characterize these difficulties. Qualitative research was used to achieve the goal. The thesis deals with two types of structures, one direction or simultaneusly two directions structure. The partial aim is to describe (on the basis of acquired data and experience) recommendations and offer in practice proven appropriate activities that would precede the activities in last year of pre- school eductaion. A series of tasks has been created to test how the child works with a regular rhythm structure in one and two directions. At the same time, I watched if it is easier for the child to fill in these worksheets or work with small 3D material in given directions. In addition to the observation method, interviews with children were conducted and data recordings were added to the analysis. The evidence obtained showed that the preschool children in the last year of the kindergarten understands the structure more easily in one direction and is better oriented in the horizontal position than in the vertical or both directions simultaneously. This may be due...
